How to set and achieve a debt free goal
When you decide to be debt free, you need to set your goals to making it a reality.
You want to take all the right steps to becoming financial free of debt. This means that you are aiming yourself in the right direction to be successful.
Life brings us many goals we have wanted to accomplish. Some we have seen to completion and been successful in and others have not made it that far.
Setting a goal in your work life and your personal life are positive steps toward maturity and growth. Our personal life goals we are responsible for. Those we set at work are in conjunction with our boss.
The world is full of people who are setting goals for themselves but there are few who will set it in stone by writing it down for prosperity's sake. In writing it down, the fear of not having it come to pass is the largest reason this is not done.
Those individuals who are not goal setters are individuals who are sure that they will never be able to see it through. Failure is something they do not want to face. It has been said that when you are afraid to fail. Doing nothing is even worse for you than trying and not seeing success. It is much better to try and fail than to sit and do nothing with your life. That is a real waste.
Many of us have said that we wanted to lose weight or to give up a bad habit. Some of us have even wanted to be debt free. It does not matter what the goal is, you need to make sure it is one that you are ready to go for and complete. In saying you want these things to come to change there has been no real effort to begin the process of moving toward the goal.
When you are serious about setting a goal, you need to be very detailed in what you want to have happen. Come to a point where you have had enough. Do not lie to yourself about what you can and cannot do. Take a long hard look at your debt and your income. Admit to yourself the part you had in it and the changes you need to make in your spending behavior. Once you have determined the goal you want to move toward, write it out on paper and the steps you need to take to get it done. An example of this might be "I want to have paid $300 on a particular bill within the next three months." Then note on the paper just where you intend to take the money from in order to accomplish this task. It might be from a luxury that you enjoy on a regular basis such as a weekly dinner. Once the goal is reached, you might be able to start the dinner again. The important thing is to have obtainable goals of how much to pay off and how you plan to do it. Also, give yourself a time limit to achieve it in.
Next, take these individual goals and write each out on a notecard and place them in places you will see them. This might be on your fridge or your mirror. The whole ideas is to read it out loud so you will be encouraging yourself to continue in your fight to meet your debt free goal.
Good Mental Feelings
When you are ready to set your goals down on paper, you are also ready to let some other person in on it. This is key to getting where you want to be.
Your husband and wife are not a consideration in this because the two of you should already know and be helping each other reach this. You can let a friend or parent know who has nothing to do with the debt you are trying to let go of.
They are responsible for holding you accountable for doing what you say. This brings the goal to life instead of being a fantasy.
You are now not only responsible for your own self and goals but you have given someone else permission to make sure you carry it through.
Your goal should be detailed and specify what you are going to pay off and when it will be paid off. This gives you a freedom to live without anxiety and fear of being in debt. You can choose to be afraid of setting goals to be debt free or you can choose to be afraid of living in the years ahead with it the thought of owing all that money hanging over you.
