Living a good life without credit or debt

Many people who are debt free love this concept in their lives and they are seeing how positive it is right now with such an uncertain financial situation in the world.

Having a secure debt free life may not be all the glamour of being a millionaire but it sure does give on a sense of freedom not felt by many. The car may not be top of the line but you never have to worry about paying for it or having it taken away. Your home is yours and no bank is going to take that from you. You might have to wait for an item you want but there will be no extra fees from interest on a credit card or monthly statements for the next ten years for an item that only took three months to save for. Without the need for income to pay bills, you can begin to take that free money from your income and put it away for when you really need it.

Many individuals do not choose to live their lives like this. They may want to be debt free but they also are being pulled to the advantages of the credit card or having a nice item. It is important to begin to work on your credit but there is a way to accomplish this within a moderate standard of living. Why rent if you are able to buy, without credit, you might have trouble in some places getting a rental home. How do you get the best life possible without getting the debt that comes with it? Take a look at these ten tips listed below and see if they might help your particular situation.

  1. Put money away for an emergency. This is what many individuals think they need a credit card for. When you have a specific amount ready, there is no need to use the trusty card. Begin the fund with a thousand dollars as your goal. Once you have reached this amount, continue adding money until you have enough to support you for at least three months. Better is having enough in for six months. The money you have left over out of the monthly debt payments will be what you use for this fund.

  2. Instead of the card, put the money away for those items you want. When your emergency fund is at the level it should be, start making a list of those things you would like. This may include a vacation, a new car, or school. Would you like to add on to your home to buy a boat? You can, just not on credit. Take the amount you will need for this item and begin saving for it. If you are debt free, you will have no issues getting the money fairly quickly.

  3. Use a debit card instead of a credit card. By using a debit card, you will not be spending money you do not already have. This makes it easier to buy in places that require a visa or MasterCard but you will not be using money that is not yours. The money is from your checking account and there is no interest and no money spent that you do not have in the account.

  4. No more interest payments only interest rewards. The issue with credit is the amount of interest charged over and above the original price of the item. Would you like to make money when you buy something? When you invest your money in an account that pays you interest, over a certain amount of time, your money will be making you money. That makes perfect sense.

  5. Pay cash for your car and not interest. Many think there is no way you can simply pay for a vehicle in cash and without the help of a loan. If it is done in the right way, you can add money to your savings account and within a few years have the money to walk in and purchase a new vehicle without any loans or interest. Interest on a car loan means you pay double for one car. By saving in this way, you will own two cars outright before you pay for one car loan. It is a great feeling when it belongs only to you and no one else.

  6. Put money away for after you retire. There is no denying this is an essential key in living the best thing to do no matter the amount of debt you currently have. If you have no debt, this account is even easier to fill. The less debt you have the more you can put into your retirement fund. You might even find you are able to take your retirement years early.

  7. Take your vacation credit free. You do not need a credit card to reserve a rental car or a room to stay in. You just need a cash deposit for these things. There are car rental companies that do not take credit from anyone. If you need to rent from one that does, use your checking account debit card instead.

  8. Rent a home with no credit. If your credit is less than perfect, you can always find a rental home that will allow you to stay by providing them a larger deposit than is normally required.

  9. Purchase a home with no credit. It is better for you to rent than to buy a house but if you are set on buying a home, you can do it as easy as you can in buying a car outright. The process is a little bit difficult and needs an article of its own but it is possible.

  10. PayPal for online payments and shopping is best. Buying things online can definitely get you into trouble but at the same time is fun. There are so many options open online that is not open to you locally. This means you may be tempted into buying something you do not need. Instead of using a credit card for your online purchases, you can utilize PayPal. PayPal offers an easy alternative to shopping with credit and the money needs to be in your account before you can spend it.
