Reducing credit card payments
More consumers are now paying by credit cards and the credit card companies are earning huge profits. The sole reason why the credit card companies are so profitable is that consumers are using credit cards unwisely.
If you currently have a good credit, you will be able to apply and receive a credit card with about a 10% in interest rate. If you make your credit card payments on time, you will not have any problems maintaining those interest rates. However, when you are unable to pay in full, or worse yet, skip a payment, you will be tagged fees and interest rate. Do this for a few months and you will have a hard time reducing credit card payment. To make matters worse, your credit card company will jack up the interest rates. Late payments and missed payments can trigger substantial increase in credit card interest rates, often twice the interest rate you were paying earlier.
Reducing credit card payments is practically impossible with those escalating interest rate and late fees. If you are not a regular offender, ask your credit card company to waive the late fees on your credit card payment. Some companies will never do it at all but it's worth the effort to at least ask them if they would be willing to waive the late fees.
In reducing your credit card payments, you may also want to consider switching to a new credit card with better interest rates. If the interest rates fall, your credit card payments fall as well. Better yet, if you can get a 0% interest rate credit card for a promotional period, you will be able to reduce debt and not pay any interest on your credit card payments.
Tips for reducing credit card payments:
- Find a credit card with low interest rate.
- Find a credit card with no yearly fees.
- Always make an effort to pay your bills on time.
- Verify the interest rates on all your credit cards and in order to reduce your credit card payments, transfer balances from high interest to low interest cards.
- Always pay cash for your purchases.
If you follow the above simple steps, you will be able to stay out of credit card debt.
